What is CORTO?

CORTO is a short film festival based in the city of Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The festival is focused in short-film productions inspired by and made in the region of Ibero-America.

CORTO is a festival that aims to give an impulse to the Short Film genre while creating channels for the cultural exchange between the Ibero-American region and the Netherlands. We want to create a festival that locals and visitors can enjoy alike.

Who are we?

Monse Higareda, Mexican with more than 5 years of experience in event planning in international settings. She studied Visual Arts and Cultural event planning at the University of Lorraine in Metz, France. She also has experience in filmmaking, script writing and acting in short films.

Johana Molina, Colombian, currently studying Fashion design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. She’s the co-organiser of Cinema Colombiano at Worm, a festival of music and movies from Colombia. This year, it had it’s 3rd edition.

Sebastiaan Luiten, Dutch, Architect and hard-core cinephile. Together with Johana Molina he organises and promotes Cinema Colombiano at Worm. He also organizes more cinematographic events around the city and writes for magazines specialized in movies.

Adolfo Estrada, Mexican, Audio visual creator with a Communication background in the UIA in Mexico City and a master in Creative Documentary in Barcelona at UAB. He has experience making documentaries and short films. He was the programmer at the cultural center “On the Sand” in Noord Rotterdam, and organized cine-clubs specialized in the Ibero American cinema, in collaboration with Cafe Cultura, El Abanico and the Asociación Hispanoamericana de Rotterdam.
